in hydraulic piston accumulators which utilizes NBR OR other ELASTOMER sealing arrangement can we maintain pressure using air because normally nitrogen is recommended in these accumulators ! air is banned due dieseling effect but is there any international standard/legislation available banning air in these accumulators? are there any accidents on record due use of air ? help supplemented using international standard/legislation is appreciated
As the previous reply said. Don't even think about it! Use an inert gas and it cannot go bang. I am sure there is UK legislation and a DIN standard covering suitable Gases, although I cannot quote the standards. Look up standards on pressure vessels and youshould find what you need.
